Tasting note

Wine information

The champagne is a cuvée of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay with grapes from the Montagne de Reims (Ludes and Villedommange) and the Vitriat, namely Vavray Grand. The 2020 vintage forms the basis with 25 to 40% from previous years from a solera, depending on the vintage. Disgorged in October 2023 with 3 grams of dosage.

Nose

That this champagne Invitation, so Invitation is the name of the winery, which already indicates how it ranks in the winery. It is the calling card and should emphasise what Huré stands for. The champagne offers a wealth of flavours of ripe apples, pears, yellow cherries and plums, wet chalk, a little yeast and patisserie. This is textbook champagne for those with higher proportions of red grapes.

Palate

On the palate the Invitation charming and balanced. The dosage has been reduced from the previous 5 to 6 grams to 3 grams, which makes the champagne appear somewhat more powerful and precise. The perlage is lively, the acidity playfully light, the fruit juicy and the texture fine. In terms of flavour, the champagne moves between red, white-fleshed and citrus fruit with rocky spice, a little patisserie and herbs. The impressive acidity and pressing minerality are striking and persist into the finish.

Food pairing suggestions

  • Crispy bread with rilettes of mackerel, tuna or other fish (fish)
  • Mushroom and cheese soufflé (Vegetable & Vegetarian)
  • New potatoes with crème fraîche and trout roe (fish)
