Wine Description for Invitation Extra Brut Base 2021 by Huré Frères
- Colour & Appearance
- Vibrant straw yellow with a subtle copper shimmer and a fine, persistent mousse, which testifies to the craftsmanship of this Champagne.
- Nose
- The Invitation lives up to its name: inviting and multi-layered, the bouquet opens with notes of pastry, apricots and ripe peaches. These are joined by vanilla, ripe apple, a hint of cherry and the mineral presence of crushed stone – an aromatic calling card that unites elegance and substance.
- Palate
- On the palate, a fine mousse unfolds, which harmonises perfectly with the bright fruitiness. Citric freshness meets stone and kernel fruits as well as creamy pastry notes. Despite the full-bodied texture, the Champagne remains agile and lively, builds perceptible pressure and displays a pronounced mineral vein. A fine herbal and stone spice lends additional complexity.
- Finish
- The long finish is the hallmark of this Extra Brut: the balance of subtle sweetness (4.5 grams dosage), vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity reveals itself here in all its finesse. Minerality and freshness linger sustainably.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come from premier vineyard sites in the Montagne de Reims (Ludes and Villedommange) as well as from the Vitriat with Vavray Grand. This provenance gives the Champagne its characteristic mineral character and structure.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A thoughtfully composed cuvée of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. The base is formed by the 2021 vintage, refined with 25-40% reserve wines from a Solera. Disgorged in November 2024 with minimal 4.5 grams dosage – a true Extra Brut with character.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- Excellent as an aperitif, but also with oysters, scallops, pan-fried monkfish or goat’s cheese. The mineral freshness pairs perfectly with sushi and sashimi.
- Special Features
- The Invitation is the calling card of brothers François and Pierre Huré – a craftsman-made Champagne that unites tradition and precision. The Solera method lends additional depth and complexity.
