Grüner Sylvaner, in the southern Rheinhessen region, is next to Riesling in the priority list of the Battenfeld Spanier winery. With centuries of tradition in the Wonnegau, the devotion to this Silvaner is immeasurable.
This passionate dedication is expressed in the wine's radiant golden colour, with clear green reflections that only sparkle in the sun.
On first sniff, the Grüner Sylvaner 2022 unfolds a juicy character accentuated by aromas of ripe yellow fruits such as nectarines, oranges and apricots. Complementary notes of yellow pear, prominent herbs and floral tones such as elderberry, lemongrass and ivy add depth. A spark of minerality and an invigorating earthy note lovingly embrace this wealth of flavours.
On the tongue, the Silvaner flatters with a juicy and invigorating quality, accompanied by a stimulating acidity and finely structured tannins. This is a wine that makes the second glass unavoidable and can be imaginatively combined with vegetarian cuisine.
This wine would harmonise perfectly with spring rolls stuffed with mango and basil, or a barley risotto garnished with smoky sea bass. A pink roast veal with crispy asparagus and chive vinaigrette would also make a delightful combination.
