Wine Description for Foradori Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2023 by Foradori

Colour & Appearance
Garnet red with vibrant violet reflections and a dense, dark core – a wine that speaks of energy and depth from the moment it touches the glass.
Nose
A blueprint for Teroldego in its purest form: blackberries, mulberries and damsons form the dark fruit foundation, underpinned by tart elderflower. Above this floats a floral veil of mallow and hibiscus. The 2023 vintage adds an intriguing note of pickled black walnuts – an aromatic depth that elevates the wine beyond the expected.
Palate
Juicy and immediate on the attack, with transparent, shimmering extract. The 2023 surprises with a delicate, filigree texture – lighter-footed and more sublime than many a previous vintage. The tannins are fine-meshed and ultra-fine, almost silky, without any heaviness. A cool, elegant style with a wide-spanning acidity arc that prioritises freshness and finesse over sheer concentration.
Finish
Long and cool, with fresh dark fruit and a lightly floral aftertaste. Not a gram of excess – the finish is precise, invigorating and of remarkable length.
Terroir & Origin
The wine hails from the Campo Rotaliano, a geologically unique indentation of the Adige valley in Trentino, shaped by millennia of deposits from the Noce river. The soils of limestone, granite and porphyry scree – complemented by alluvial deposits, gravel and sand from sites such as Mezzolombardo Campazzi and Settepergole – lend the wine its characteristic minerality and freshness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100 % Teroldego Rotaliano, an indigenous grape variety that barely exists outside the Campo Rotaliano. Fermentation in cement, followed by twelve months of ageing in barrels and cement. Annual production: around 50,000 bottles. At just 12.0 % alcohol, an expression of modern, cool winemaking at the highest level.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The vibrant acidity and fine tannin structure make it an ideal companion to wild boar salami, grilled lamb or pasta with game ragù. Also a delight with Trentino speck and robust mountain cheese.
Special Features
Elisabetta Foradori is regarded as the pioneer of Teroldego – she has elevated the grape variety from mediocrity and made it an icon. The 2023 demonstrates that greatness does not mean weight: this is a wine of rare elegance and precision.
