Wine Description for Foradori Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2023 by Foradori
- Colour & Appearance
- Luminous garnet red with violet reflections and a dark, intense core – visually already a promise of Teroldego typicity.
- Nose
- An aromatic blueprint of the grape variety: Rich, dark berry fruit of blackberries, mulberries and damsons is contrasted by tart elderflower. The top notes surprise with floral nuances – mallow, hibiscus, hollyhocks – whilst pickled black walnuts lend the 2023 additional aromatic depth and complexity. Fascinatingly multifaceted.
- Palate
- The attack reveals itself juicy with tart, dark fruit and transparently shimmering extract. This vintage reveals something hovering, almost ethereal – the extraction is deliberately delicate, the finesse sublime. Aromatically violet, the wine oscillates between fruit and bouquet, carried by tight-knit, ultra-fine tannins. A cool style with a wide-spanning acidity arc that prioritises freshness and elegance over concentration. Filigree and light-footed at just 12% alcohol.
- Finish
- Cool and fresh with lingering dark fruit, drawn out by vibrant acidity. Remarkably precise and clear.
- Terroir & Origin
- The Campo Rotaliano, an indentation of the Adige valley between two mountain ridges, owes its unique soil composition to the Noce river, which has deposited limestone, granite and porphyry scree for centuries. This cuvée unites various microzones from alluvial soil, gravel and sand, including the vineyard sites Mezzolombardo Campazzi and Settepergole.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- 100% Teroldego Rotaliano, spontaneously fermented in cement vessels, followed by 12 months maturation in barrels and cement. The vinification underscores Elisabetta Foradori’s philosophy: reduction rather than concentration, transparency rather than extraction. Annual production: approximately 50,000 bottles.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- The cool elegance harmonises perfectly with game dishes, venison loin with lingonberries, braised beef or polenta with mushrooms. Also a convincing pairing with aged alpine cheese from Trentino.
- Special Features
- The 2023 marks a stylistic shift: instead of the customary concentration, Foradori opts for lightness and finesse – a bold, contemporary Teroldego from biodynamically farmed vines. A wine that proves elegance and identity are not opposites.
