Colour profile
The deep purple colouring of this Sgarzon 2019 is almost opaque and extends to the very edge of the bottle - a bit like a misty night sky.
Aroma
This vintage shows an untamed, earthy character that awaits its generous revelation. With a powerful vegetal fruitiness reminiscent of sloe, rowan berry and elder wood, its essence carries a rustic, masculine appeal. Nuances of red beet, ivy and boxwood complement the olfactory experience, contributing to the seductively interwoven aromatic palette that awakens both exploration and pleasure.
Taste
A youthful hint of acidity and finely tuned tannins challenge the palate to get used to its taste. The dark berry fruit blends seamlessly with the earthy flavours, with a hint of minerality and saltiness awakening the taste buds. An exciting element of sour cherry further stimulates the palate, only increasing the desire to experience it further. Like an unfinished gemstone, it is waiting to be polished.
At present, it would be advisable to decant it and enjoy it slightly chilled in a properly sized glass to reveal its full splendour.
Menu recommendation
For culinary encounters, we recommend combining it with a burrata and grilled green asparagus with fresh figs and candied pecans. Saltimbocca of halibut on sun-dried tomatoes with rosemary gnocchi would be another excellent option. Warm smoked fillet of beef with braised red peppers and rosemary sprigs completes the experience.
