Nose
The 2014 Fausoni Barbaresco is multi-faceted with an animating coolness on the nose reminiscent of rocks and minerals. With the necessary oxygen contact, beguiling fruit notes of dark berries, cassis, black cherries and plum jam emerge. Earthy notes of truffle, dark chocolate linger in the background for now, but will become more prominent with the necessary maturity. An exciting, promising drop, that is already noticeable in the fragrance.
Palate
The 2014 Fausoni Barbaresco is eagerly awaited on the tongue, where it opens with a fresh and mineral structure. Acidity and tannin still seem youthfully demanding. A wine with bite and complexity, which asks the taster at the moment for some patience, but which will show greatness in a few years, that's for sure. If you want to enjoy it already in its youthful stage, you do well to associate it with strong cuisine and concentrated sauces.
Recommendation
For now, decant it with enough notice of at least 2 hours and serve slightly chilled.
