Wine Description for Chardonnay -N- 2024 by Michael Andres

Colour & Appearance
Luminous straw yellow with vibrant green reflections, which emphasise the youth and freshness of this wine.
Nose
A seductive bouquet that displays citrus freshness: lemon and grapefruit meet juicy mirabelle plums, greengage plums and ripe pear. Exotic notes of carambola are accompanied by herbal nuances – fennel green and verbena – alongside a mineral limestone note and a hint of white pepper, which lend complexity.
Palate
On the palate, this Chardonnay reveals itself as a true drinking pleasure: remarkably fresh and juicy, yet surprisingly well-balanced. The light fruit harmonises perfectly with piquant, zesty notes and a clear acidity structure. The fine minerality is carried by a subtly creamy texture – a result of ageing on full lees. Despite its complexity, the wine remains wonderfully uncomplicated and approachable.
Finish
Medium length with persistent citrus freshness and a mineral aftertaste that invites the next sip.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, malolactic fermentation and ageing on full lees through to summer. The wine was matured in tonneau and partly in large oak casks, which lends it its elegant texture. Unfiltered bottling with 4.3 g/l acidity and only 0.5 g/l residual sugar – a clearly dry style.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Perfect companion to grilled sea bass, scallops, goat’s cheese salad or asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Also excellent with poultry in lemon sauce or Asian dishes with ginger and coriander.
Special Features
An authentic, natural Chardonnay from the Palatinate, which impresses with its clarity and precision. Michael Andres delivers here a value-for-money winner that proves German Chardonnay craftsmanship can compete internationally – without overripe opulence, but with character and drinkability.
