It expresses itself in notes of almond croissants and creamy lemon curd. At the same time, however, the Vazart-Coquart also reveals its cooler, chalkier and crisper side on the nose with notes of green apple, lemon zest and a touch of yuzu, crushed stone and fresh herbs.

Wine Description for Brut Réserve Blanc de Blancs L17 Chouilly Grand Cru NV 1500ml by Vazart-Coquart & Fils

Colour & Appearance
A medium straw yellow with an exceptionally lively, fine-beaded mousse that displays sustained dynamism in the glass.
Nose
The bouquet is characterised by a fascinating tension between maturity and freshness. Intense notes of almond croissants and creamy lemon curd point to the high proportion of reserve wines. This richness is contrasted by a cool, precise minerality: green apple, yuzu and crushed stone meet a fine, iodine-tinged sea breeze.
Palate
On the palate, this magnum presents itself with power and aristocratic structure. The balance between the volume of the réserve perpétuelle and the vibrant acidity is masterfully executed. Aromas of white peach and almond biscuit meld with invigorating nuances of salted lemons, candied ginger and a hint of white chocolate. The subtle dosage of 3.5 g/l allows the chalky core the necessary space.
Finish
Long, taut and marked by remarkable freshness, the wine leaves a chalky-saline impression and a desire for the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
Stemming from Grand Cru vineyard sites in Chouilly, the vines, averaging 43 years old, are rooted deep in the pure belemnite chalk of the Côte des Blancs.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay. The cuvée is based 65% on the 2017 vintage, supplemented by older vintages and 25% of a réserve perpétuelle started in 1982. Aged in stainless steel tanks including malolactic fermentation.
Food Pairing Recommendations
An ideal partner for smoked eel or halibut, a mild Chinese hot pot with prawns or classic North German pannfisch.
Special Features
Exclusive bottling for Vinaturel; the wine marks the house’s transition phase towards organic viticulture.
