Wine Description for Barolo Via Nuova DOCG 2021 by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Colour & Appearance
Luminous cherry red with medium-high transparency – classic for Nebbiolo, elegant and inviting in the glass.
Nose
A seductive bouquet of ripe cherries and plums, interwoven with fine notes of cinnamon and almond. These are complemented by hints of blood orange, mint and the characteristic rose petals of Nebbiolo. Charming, well-balanced and of remarkable finesse.
Palate
Medium-bodied yet with impressive presence: the wine displays pleasant firmness and good grip. Floral notes meet a lively, energetic acidity structure. The tannins present themselves ripe and fine, without harshness. Well-balanced, accessible and of remarkable dynamism – a Barolo that already brings pleasure now.
Finish
Persistent and elegant with fine fruit and a hint of spices. The acidity carries the aromas long and leaves a fresh, vibrant impression.
Terroir & Origin
A fascinating assemblage from six different vineyard sites: Terlo and Liste (Barolo), Gabutti and Baudana (Serralunga d’Alba) as well as Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi (Monforte d’Alba). The name Via Nuova recalls a historic vineyard near the centre of Barolo, whose tradition Chiara Boschis honours with this cuvée.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Nebbiolo in the Michet and Lampia variants. Harvest in early October, fermentation in rotating tanks with 14 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, followed by two years of ageing in French oak barrels and barriques. A classical approach that combines tradition and modernity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Perfect with Brasato al Barolo, Ossobuco, Boiled beef or Risotto with porcini mushrooms. Also an excellent choice with aged Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno. The lively structure harmonises wonderfully with braised game or lamb rack with herb crust.
Special Features
A magnificent Barolo in development that already displays impressive balance and accessibility. The multi-vineyard cuvée reflects the diversity of the Barolo zone and offers complex depth alongside elegance. A wine that will bring pleasure both now and with further ageing.
