Wine Description for Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2021 3000ml Double Magnum by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Colour & Appearance
Luminous garnet red with medium transparency – the typical elegance of Nebbiolo reveals itself already in the glass.
Nose
A fascinating duality of power and finesse: iron and blood meet ripe plums and cherries, underpinned by cherry stones and marzipan. These are joined by red berries, fresh mint, a hint of eucalyptus and candied lavender – an aromatic kaleidoscope of remarkable complexity.
Palate
Here the Cannubi reveals its true greatness: balanced and elegant, with warm, ripe fruit and floral accents. The tannin is impeccably silky, the acidity clear and fresh. Mineralic iron notes emerge once again, accompanied by blue fruits, subtle wood spice and earthy nuances. The wine flows across the palate with an almost meditative calm – a stream full of sensual moments.
Finish
Long, harmonious and of sustained elegance – a wine that lingers and invites contemplation.
Terroir & Origin
The Cannubi is regarded as one of Barolo’s most famous vineyard sites. The perfect south-facing aspect and an unusually high sand content in the soil give this wine its extraordinary harmony and intensity. The Nebbiolo clones Michet and Lampia find ideal conditions here.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Nebbiolo, harvested in early October 2021. Fermentation in rotating tanks with 14 days of skin contact, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Ageing took place over two years in French barrels and barriques – a vinification that elegantly combines tradition and modernity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
This Barolo demands fine cuisine: Brasato al Barolo, braised ox cheeks, truffle risotto, aged Parmigiano Reggiano or game dishes such as venison loin with porcini mushrooms.
Special Features
The double magnum (3 litres) is not merely a statement, but also guarantees optimal ageing conditions. The 2021 vintage already proves itself to be a great vintage – a wine by Chiara Boschis, who carries forward the legacy of her legendary father Gianfranco with precision and passion.
