Wine Description for Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2021 1500ml Magnum by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Colour & Appearance
Classic garnet red with medium transparency – typical of Nebbiolo, which does not hide its elegance behind dark colour depth, but rather convinces through finesse.
Nose
A fascinating interplay of aromas between power and refinement: iron and blood meet dark plums, cherries and cherry stones. These are joined by marzipan, red berries, mint, a hint of eucalyptus and candied lavender – an aromatic composition that masterfully combines sensuality and mineral depth.
Palate
The Cannubi reveals its true greatness on the palate: balanced and elegant, with warm, ripe fruit and floral notes. The tannin presents itself as silky and flawless, the acidity clear and fresh. Iron-rich notes, blue fruits, subtle wood and earthy undertones flow like a calm stream full of sensual facets across the palate.
Finish
Long, elegant and with sustained fruit-mineral balance – a finale that underscores the great vintage.
Terroir & Origin
The Cannubi is considered one of Barolo’s most famous vineyard sites. The perfect south-facing aspect and the unusually high sand content in the soil give the grapes extraordinary intensity whilst maintaining harmony – a terroir that unites power and elegance.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Nebbiolo in the Michet and Lampia clones, harvested in early October 2021. Fermentation in rotating tanks with 14 days of skin contact, malolactic fermentation in steel. Ageing took place over two years in French oak casks and barriques – classical and respectful of the great terroir.
Food Pairing Recommendations
This Barolo demands sophisticated cuisine: Brasato al Barolo, truffle risotto, Ossobuco, aged Parmigiano Reggiano or game with mushrooms. The magnum bottle makes it the ideal companion for festive tables.
Special Features
A great vintage from a legendary vineyard site in the impressive magnum bottle, which gives the wine additional ageing potential. Chiara Boschis is counted among Barolo’s most respected producers – this Cannubi is craftsmanship and art in equal measure.
