Wine Description for Barolo Via Nuova DOCG 2021 1500ml Magnum by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Colour & Appearance
Luminous cherry red with medium transparency, which underscores the classic Nebbiolo character – elegant and inviting in the glass.
Nose
A charming, multi-layered bouquet unfolds: ripe cherries and plums form the foundation, intertwined with blood orange, cinnamon and almond. Floral notes of roses and a hint of mint lend the wine a remarkable finesse and balance.
Palate
Medium-bodied yet with impressive presence: The Barolo displays pleasant firmness and good structure. Floral and accessible, it presents itself with a lively, energetic acidity that harmonises perfectly with the ripe, refined tannins. The dynamism on the palate is remarkable – a Barolo that already brings pleasure now, but undoubtedly possesses considerable development potential.
Finish
Persistent and well-balanced, with lingering fruit and spice notes that underscore the wine’s elegance.
Terroir & Origin
A fascinating blend from six different vineyard sites: Terlo and Liste (Barolo), Gabutti and Baudana (Serralunga d’Alba) as well as Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi (Monforte d’Alba). With this, Chiara Boschis honours the historic Via Nuova vineyard, which once lay near the centre of Barolo and whose name derives from the „new road“ to Novello.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Nebbiolo in the classic Michet and Lampia clones. Hand-harvested in early October, fermentation in rotating tanks with 14 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation in steel, followed by two years of ageing in French oak barrels and barriques.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Brasato al Barolo, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Tagliatelle with truffles, aged Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino, game dishes such as venison loin or wild boar ragout.
Special Features
The magnum bottle (1500ml) promises optimal ageing conditions. A magnificent Barolo in development from a challenging yet promising vintage from one of the region’s most renowned estates.
