Wine Description for Badischer Landwein Villages White 2021 by Forgeurac

Colour & Appearance
Deep, luminous gold – a wine that announces its character unmistakably from the moment it touches the glass.
Nose
Intense and captivating: ripe wood pear, apple and delicate apple skin form the core, underpinned by an inviting wine yeast note. With air, the wine opens towards exotic hints of mango and kaffir lime. With further ageing, aromas of nuts, forest floor and a whisper of wood smoke will come increasingly to the fore.
Palate
Juicy and full-bodied, yet threaded through with a vibrant, precise acidity that lends the wine tension and freshness. Plenty of spice and a pleasant grip provide structure and depth. A wine of genuine density and vitality.
Finish
Long, saline and pleasantly demanding – the finish inevitably leaves you wanting more. A sign of genuine minerality and artisanal precision.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from two renowned Baden vineyard sites: Käsebrod in Rauenberg and Rappenberg in Kappelwindeck – two expressions of Baden terroir that together yield remarkable complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Pinot Blanc, harvested on 24th and 27th September 2021. Whole bunch pressing on the basket press by hand, spontaneously fermented and subsequently aged for around four years on full lees in used barriques – without bâtonnage, unfiltered, without any additives. Bottled in August 2025. A wine that has been given time, and it shows.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This wine demands cuisine with substance: grilled turbot with beurre blanc, calf sweetbreads with morels, mature Comté or a risotto with white truffle. With Asian-inspired dishes featuring citrus notes, it also unfolds its exotic side impressively.
Special Features
A consistently natural wine from Uwe Lange and Marco Pfliehinger that emphatically redefines the term „Landwein“. The exceptionally long full lees ageing of four years without bâtonnage lends it a depth and texture that far exceeds its category. An honest, uncompromising drop with considerable future potential.
