Bright cherry red, discreetly light rim
Nose
2016 Astralabe conveys a feeling of coolness and warmth at the same time. Absolutely ambivalent. On the nose, many small fruits such as redcurrant, cassis, elderberry and strawberry. It has a touch of yoghurt. But much more red flowers, red fruit tea and sour cherry. Astralabe literally channels these pleasant sour fruit notes to immeasurable effect. Pickled morello cherry and a hint of beetroot now slowly emerge. The beetroot combines fruit with earthiness - a really exciting combination. Blackcurrant bush wood as well as nettle and mint convey balsamic and ethereal, cool elements. Finally, green olive emerges, integrating a Mediterranean component.
Palate
On the palate, it seamlessly continues the impressions of the nose. Slim, filigree and cool. The acidity is in the background and remains pleasantly discreet and wonderfully integrated. The fruit is open and clear. It is repeatedly interspersed with cooling and spicy nuances. Tart, woody notes give it a serious, mature edge. Rosehip, green olive and dried herbs characterise the finish. Another positive aspect is that at this stage it has shed its youthful restlessness and fruit concentration. It is balanced, open and very easy to drink.
