Info

C. Raffelt, 18.3.2021

100 % Vermentinu from different parcels from an area of about 18 hectares. The vineyard is characterised by granite and lies at an altitude of around 100 metres. The Vermentino has reached an age of 40 years and is harvested at around 20 hl/ha. It is harvested by hand in the early morning, destemmed and pressed directly. There is a slow fermentation at 18 °C after a cool pre-fermentation and after the natural settling of the lees. This is followed by ageing in stainless steel for 5 months. No fining, light filtration.

Nose

The Faustine Blanc Vieilles Vignes from 2021 initially reveals a range of green and yellow fruits. Apples in great variety, Nashi pear as well as mirabelle plum and nectarine are perceptible at the beginning. At this young stage, it still has a rather steely, yeasty character, but this can have its charm. Apple and almond blossom provide delicate, elegant moments in the glass alongside the quite distinct fruit. Freshly sliced almond kernels as well as a hint of yeast plait round it off alongside a veritable roundel of fresh garden herbs.

Palate

On the palate, it acts with clear contrasts against the impressions of the nose. At the beginning, it shows its slender, juicy character. The apple aromas come to the fore wonderfully. As does the mixture of tart and sour nuances that resemble biting into an unpeeled apple. Delightful. Provided with pleasant bitterness, the floral impression also spreads out fully again. This makes this white wine from Corsica seem delicate and fragile. Nevertheless, it can fully live out its juicy centre and, thanks to the well-integrated acidity structure, also scores points in the drinking flow. In the aftertaste, the aromas seem quite similar to the nose.
