Color
The wine is bright straw yellow with white-gold reflections and a subtle yeast cloudiness shining in the glass.
Nose
Like a ramble through a primeval meadow that touches all the senses. Ferns, moss and hay flowers as well as fresh leaves and wet grass enrich the aroma of this exciting cuvée of Pinot Blanc and, believe it or not, three percent Muskat Ottonel with their herbal freshness. Wild berries such as rosehip, sea buckthorn and white mulberries vitalize the impressions of soil and wet stone, which are due to the origin from limestone and slate sites in the Leithagebirge.
Palate
On the palate of the 2017 Weisze Freyheit from Heike and Gernot Heinrich, this tiny portion of Muskat Ottonel very inconspicuously and stealthily brings its life-affirming fruit opulence to light. Kumquats, sharon fruit and honey pollen shine in rich, bright yellow, yet they are sparse and slender in their reverberation. The supple texture is soulful and both palate-filling and refreshing. Juicy and bursting with drinkable joie de vivre is the essence of Weiszen Freyheit. The strong character and at the same time unobtrusive, straightforward wine is unfiltered and filled without added sulfur and thus a drinkable proof of what meticulous and quality fanatical craft can bring with it.
