Wine description for Pinot Blanc dry 2024 from Battenfeld-Spanier

Character
A precise, dry Pinot Blanc from one of Rheinhessen’s most reliable addresses. With an alcohol content of just 12.0% vol., this vintage promises that lightness and drinking pleasure which Battenfeld-Spanier has made their hallmark – wines that don’t seek to impress, but rather to touch.
Terroir & Origin
Rheinhessen is long past being a mass-production region – and Battenfeld-Spanier has played no small part in that. The estate from Hohen-Sülzen has worked consistently biodynamically for years and understands the limestone and loess soils of the region as an expression, not as raw material. The wines tell of a terroir that was long underestimated and today ranks among Germany’s most exciting white wine landscapes.
Grape variety & Vinification
Pinot Blanc – known as Pinot Blanc in France as well – finds optimal conditions in Rheinhessen’s mild climate. The variety rewards careful craftsmanship with structural clarity, fine texture and a natural interplay of acidity that is neither obtrusive nor flat. Battenfeld-Spanier vinifies with a sense for minimal intervention – the wine should speak, not the cellar. The 2024 vintage brought fresh conditions to Rheinhessen that suit the variety well.
Food pairing suggestions
A versatile companion for the table. Excellent with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, pike-perch fillet on Riesling foam or simple goat’s cheese with walnut bread. Also with Asian cuisine with mild spicing – such as steamed dim sum or Vietnamese summer rolls – the wine unfolds its elegant broad appeal. A wine for the moment, not for eternity – and that is meant as praise.
