Wine Description for Weissburgunder Reserve 2024 by M. Schädler – Steffen Mugler

Colour & Appearance
Luminous golden yellow in the glass, threaded with silvery reflections that bear witness to the freshness of this young vintage. Clear and brilliant.
Nose
This Pinot Blanc opens with seductive juiciness: ripe apricot and quince dominate, accompanied by orange and a hint of ginger. With air contact, finer nuances of anise and almonds unfold, lending depth and complexity to the aromatic profile.
Palate
On the palate, the wine shows its best side: juicy, expressive and perfectly balanced. The mild acidity carries the wine elegantly, whilst a subtle spice immediately whets the appetite. At a moderate 12% alcohol, it remains lean and inviting to drink – a Pinot Blanc that calls for a second and third glass.
Finish
Medium length with fine fruitiness and a pleasant spice note that lingers. Fresh and clear, without any heaviness.
Terroir & Origin
From the Palatinate, one of Germany’s most versatile wine regions, where Steffen Mugler creates precise, terroir-driven wines under the M. Schädler label. The region offers ideal conditions for Burgundy varieties with its combination of warmth and mineral-rich soils.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder), aged as a Reserve – indicating selected grapes and careful vinification. The wine combines fruit and structure without overloaded oak notes, a modern, clear style.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile food companion par excellence: excellent with pan-fried white fish, scallops, risotto with porcini mushrooms, veal schnitzel with cream sauce or creamy pasta dishes. Also a safe choice with poultry and mild cheese. The spicy note harmonises beautifully with Asian cuisine.
Special Features
The 2024 vintage already demonstrates impressive accessibility and drinking pleasure. A Pinot Blanc that proves Reserve quality need not mean heaviness – but rather precision, balance and elegance.
