Tasting note
Colour/ Appearance:
Brilliant golden yellow.
Nose:
The The 2021 Isteiner Chasselas is extremely complex and multi-layered on the nose; in addition to hazelnuts, almonds and wine yeast, fruity notes of apple, citrus fruits, lemon zest and lemons swirled in salt emerge from the glass with aeration. Flavours of light tobacco and vineyard peach and dried fruit are hinted at but will only reveal themselves with further maturation.
Palate:
This Chasselas also shows what it can do on the palate, in addition to its freshness and liveliness at just 11.5 vol. %, it is its chalky minerality that characterises it. An extremely drinkable wine from a grape variety that is complex and extraordinary and impresses me time and time again.
Food pairing suggestions
- Puff pastry with cheese (vegetarian)
- Salmon and pike-perch roulade with mushroom and guttedel sauce and wild rice
- Roast duck with cinnamon pear, green peas and celeriac potato fritters
