Wine information
Velue is the old name of the village of Velm-Goetzendorf and also of the willows that grow along the streams in the village. The wine is a cuvée of 50 % Grüner Veltliner, 25 % Riesling and 25 % Muscat à Petit Grains. The grapes were harvested by hand between 11 September and 1 October 2022. The Grüner Veltliner was pressed as a whole bunch, the Riesling was macerated for 24 hours, the Muscat was foot-pressed and left on the skins for six hours. It was then pressed and fermented spontaneously. The wine was matured in large used tonneaux and in stainless steel for eleven months on the lees with concreting. The wine was bottled in August 2023 with 11.5 % alc, 35 mg total sulphur, 3.16 pH and 1 gram of residual sugar.
Color
citric yellow
Nose
The fragrance is reminiscent of the Velue white 2022 of subtle notes of jasmine, roses and nutmeg. There are also fruity notes such as yellow apples and yellow kiwi, carambola and Cape gooseberries. Finally, there is a cool component with herbs and rocks.
Palate
On the palate, the cuvée is juicy and sensual with ripe yellow and white-fleshed fruit, a little tannin and a silky but lively acidity. In addition to the fruit, there is also some rock and herbs, as well as a hint of cumin. Towards the finish, the wine becomes more and more agile, powerful, urgent and savoury with immense drinking flow.
