The Montenidoli winery can look back on a long tradition. It originated from an old monastery of the Templar order. In 1965, Sergio Muratori discovered the old monastery, recultivated the vineyards, and harvested his first wine in 1971. Today, his wife Elisabetta Faguioli continues to run the winery in his spirit. The 24 hectares of vineyards are located near San Gimignano and are surrounded by 200 hectares of forest. From the very beginning, the winery has worked very consistently organically. Elisabetta is considered as a pioneer in Tuscany, and renowned vintners like Jan Erbach from Pian del Orino call her a role model. The Vernaccia di San Gimignano is powerful and harmonious at the same time. A special feature are the Triassic soils, which are not found elsewhere in the area. Here, extraordinary red wines of touching depth are produced.
