  • 🎨 Color: The specific colour characteristics are not immediately apparent from the description, but one can expect a palette for the typical wines of the regions, ranging from the pale yellow of Alsace white wine to the deep ruby red of Burgundy red wine.
  • 👃 Aroma: Also not directly listed, but a variety of flavours are typical of wines from these regions, which can range from fruity and floral notes in Alsace to complex, earthy and fruity bouquets in Burgundy.
  • 👅 Taste: The flavour profiles are not specified in the description, but wines from these regions are often characterised by their fine balance, elegance and depth, with variations from mineral notes in Alsace to powerful, well-structured flavours in Burgundy.
  • 🎭 Character: The wineries are run biodynamically, which promises wines with a strong connection to the terroir and an almost philosophical approach to winemaking - and thus character wines that capture the essence of their origin.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendations: Without specific recommendations in the description, dishes such as choucroute or fish dishes can be assumed for Alsatian wines and classic combinations with game or beef dishes for Burgundian red wines.
  • Special features: A special feature is the winegrowing double life of the winegrowing family, who run two wineries in different regions of France and emphasise their deep connection to the soil and biodynamic cultivation.

Jean-Louis Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin and his wife Andrée Trapet in Riquewihr are leading a double vinicultural life with two exemplary biodynamic wineries, a red one in Burgundy and a white one in Alsace. Both share an almost philosophical approach to being a winemaker "From the first buds to the harvest, the grapes are accompanied but never forced." Andrée's credo is "Man or the winemaker comes and goes. What remains is the soil! We just pass by!" You can hear how connected she is to her Alsatian homeland. That's why she couldn't be dissuaded from continuing her parents' winery in Alsace. So, she is commuting between Gevrey and Riquewihr and is making sure that excellent wines are produced under the Trapet name in Alsace, too.
