Wine description for Ehrenhausen “Zeitspiel 4” Late Release 48 M. 2017 3000ml by Tement
- Colour & Appearance
- A clear, pale golden yellow, threaded through with subtle green reflections – an optical promise of freshness despite the extended maturation period.
- Nose
- The bouquet is an intellectual pleasure: it begins with classic green nuances of peas, gooseberries and paprika, which unfold over time into more complex notes of elderflower, mint and white currants. Beneath these lie riper hints of fig, green olive and a whisper of pale tobacco.
- Palate
- On the palate, the mastery of “Zeitspiel” reveals itself. The wine displays remarkable linearity and precision, almost as though time has left no trace upon it. Yet it possesses an inner composure and depth that can only emerge from 48 months of yeast contact. It presents itself as ethereal, cool and underpinned by a distinctive salinity. The fruit is a play of crispness and smoothness.
- Finish
- The finale is uncompromisingly mineral. The acidity steps forward here with greater prominence, proving invigorating and combining with the saline structure to deliver a mouth-watering vibrancy that lingers long.
- Terroir & Origin
- Shaped by the austere shell limestone of South Styria (Ehrenhausen), which lends the Sauvignon Blanc its skeletal, taut backbone.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- 100% Sauvignon Blanc, spontaneously fermented and aged for 48 months on fine lees in neutral oak and stainless steel. With just 1.2 g residual sugar, extraordinarily dry and purist.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- Excellent with halibut on roasted yellow peppers, catfish cabbage rolls with sorrel foam or fresh garden vegetables with mint and ricotta.
- Special Features
- The 3000ml bottle (double magnum) provides this long-distance runner with the perfect vessel for even slower, aristocratic maturation. A wine that rewards patience with complexity.
