The Velich winery is located in Apetlon in the nature reserve of the Burgenland Seewinkel on Lake Neusiedl. It was founded in 1933, but only really took off in the 1990s with the brothers Heinz Velich and Robert Velich, who later founded the Moric winery. Even then, the Tiglat was created from a single vineyard planted in 1959, the first Burgenland Chardonnay to cause a real international sensation. The Darscho was added later. To this day, Heinz Velich's vineyards are planted exclusively with white vines. Around 45 of these are % Chardonnay as well as Muskat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling and Bouvier. The simple wines are matured in tanks, the complex wines and the sweet wines, which are also produced in the best years, in used wooden barrels. The portfolio is deliberately clear-cut and the wines have a calm demeanour, just like their producer Heinz Velich.
