Info
The grapes were manually harvested and destemmed at the end of September 2021. A 24-hour maceration period took place without cooling. After pressing, the must was placed in a 2000-litre acacia barrel and fermented spontaneously. The wine was left on its full lees until April 2022, when the first racking took place. The red Veltliner from the Steinberg was then allowed to rest on the fine lees in steel tanks until mid-September 2022.
Color
Bright straw yellow, light reflexes, delicate golden hints
Nose
Fritsch's Rote Veltliner from the Steinberg vineyard lives from a striking balance of yellow stone fruits and abundant herbal spice. Thus it reveals - generously portioned - mirabelle plum, apricot and white peach. A hint of vineyard peach is also added. Lemon balm, chervil and nuances of parsley, thyme and mint give it a distinct ethereal freshness. It seems absolutely at peace with itself and is rounded off by a touch of freshly chopped almonds.
Palate
On the palate, it continues this game directly. Full of pressure and juicy, it makes its way. It is supported by a finely chiselled acid structure. It hits the palate purposefully and straightforwardly. Only a little enamel rounds it off on the palate. Above all, the fruit and reintroducing herbal spice have an animating effect. A very fine bitter note complements it brilliantly on the palate. All in all, it seems very balanced and animating.
