Wine description for Roero bianco DOCG 2024 by Valfaccenda

Colour & Appearance
Slightly hazy, deep golden yellow – a deliberately unfiltered wine that makes no attempt to hide its natural character.
Nose
Impressively complex and multi-layered: Boskop apple and apricot form the fruity foundation, layered with quince jelly, roasted hazelnuts and wild herbs. With air contact, additional nuances of anise and candied ginger unfold. An aromatic entry that showcases the full range of the Arneis grape.
Palate
Here the Roero reveals its true personality: mineral and grippy on the attack, with a juicy mid-palate characterised by creaminess and yeasty texture. The structure is almost tactile – you can practically chew this wine. This substance makes it an ideal partner for robust cuisine.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come primarily from two vineyards near the hamlet of Madonna di Loreto in the Faccenda valley – the vineyard sites Loreto and Mompellini. Different soils and exposures lend this Arneis its characteristic complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A fascinating vinification from two components: partly juice from destemmed grapes, partly whole-bunch fermentation – the proportions vary depending on the vintage. After approximately one month of fermentation, the wine matures until late spring and is bottled unrefined and unfiltered at the waning moon. This biodynamically inspired approach preserves maximum authenticity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with vitello tonnato, risotto with porcini mushrooms, grilled swordfish, pasta with walnut pesto or aged Castelmagno cheese. The texture and substance make it an ideal companion to hearty Piedmontese cuisine.
Special Features
A characterful representative of the Roero DOCG, demonstrating that Arneis is capable of far more than pleasant summer wines. Valfaccenda’s artisanal, nature-inspired approach creates a white wine with personality and ageing potential.
