Wine Description for Riesling Kamptal DAC 2024 by Loimer

Colour & Appearance
Radiant golden yellow in the glass – a promising first impression that already announces the vibrancy of this young Riesling.
Nose
Juicy and inviting: poached pear, apricot and citrus dominate, accompanied by quince. With air contact, subtle nuances of almond and a hint of anise unfold. The aromatic play is clearly defined, fresh and appetising – a classic Kamptal Riesling without unnecessary flourishes.
Palate
Here the true class reveals itself: vibrant, precise, with a crystalline acidity that never feels intrusive. The juicy fruit from the nose continues seamlessly on the palate, complemented by a fine salinity that gives the wine depth and drinkability. With just 11.5% alcohol, Loimer proves that elegance and substance need no alcohol content to shine. A wine that tastes better after the second glass than after the first – and that says something.
Finish
Medium length, fresh and with lingering fruit. The saline minerality resonates and leaves you wanting the next sip – or rather, the next bottle.
Terroir & Origin
The Kamptal with its unique blend of Pannonian heat and cool air currents from the Waldviertel fundamentally shapes this Riesling. Gföhler gneiss, loess and loamy gravel soils give the wine its characteristic tension between fruit, minerality and structure – a terroir masterclass in its purest form.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Selective hand harvest from late September to mid-October, partial whole-bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel at a maximum of 20°C. Maturation on full lees over three to four months brings texture and complexity without compromising freshness. Bottled in February 2025 – a wine that brings pleasure right now, but certainly has potential for years to come.
Food Pairing Recommendations
An ideal food companion: pan-fried zander, Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, goat’s cheese or Asian dishes with moderate spice. The acidity and minerality make it the perfect partner for anything that demands freshness and precision.
Special Features
A Riesling that offers maximum character with minimal alcohol – charming, approachable and authentic. Loimer once again proves why the Kamptal ranks among Austria’s Riesling strongholds.
