Wine Description for Riesling „Ganz Horn“ GG 2024 from Ökonomierat Rebholz

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a wine that visually announces its youthful freshness and precision.
Nose
Remarkably purist and stony, as if the pebbles from the gravel soil had been poured directly into the glass. Crisp green and yellow stone fruit – mirabelle, unripe apricot – harmonises with citrus notes, delicate blossoms and an almost lichen-like minerality. Despite all its reduction, the nose never appears austere, but rather fascinatingly concentrated.
Palate
Surprisingly inviting and juicy for all its precision. The ripe stone fruit carries a creamy, nonchalant texture that caresses the mineral-stony core. Linear and vibrant with fine spice and a gentle grip that creates tension. The vibrant minerality permeates the entire palate – crystalline, saline, electrifying. At just 12% alcohol, this Riesling unfolds remarkable depth and inner strength.
Finish
Long, precise and carried by a saline minerality that resonates for minutes. The stone fruit notes linger whilst the cool freshness refreshes the palate and calls for the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Ganz Horn parcel (formerly Siebeldinger Ganshorn) within the „Im Sonnenschein“ vineyard site benefits from its rare south-facing aspect on the Haardtrand. The geologically young soil from the Pleistocene consists of gravel with Buntsandstein, pebbles and clay – distinctly different from the surrounding Muschelkalk soils. This structure fundamentally shapes the wine and lends it its characteristic stony minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Riesling, after destemming 24 hours on the skins. Fermentation and six-month maturation in stainless steel on fine lees – a vinification that places clarity and terroir expression at the forefront.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Pan-fried monkfish with herb crust, scallops with cauliflower purée, sweetbreads with morels, asparagus with brown butter or aged Comté. The wine can also handle more robust preparations thanks to its inner structure.
Special Features
A Grosses Gewächs that unites elegance and power at moderate alcohol. The Rebholz signature reveals itself in the ability to combine uncompromising minerality with accessibility – a Riesling that already delivers pleasure now, but can certainly age for a decade or longer.
