Weinbeschreibung für Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat “Les Quarts” AOC 2022 von La Soufrandière
Colour & appearance
In the glass, it is a light golden yellow with brilliant reflections that reflect the precision and purity of this Burgundy.
Nose
A fascinating olfactory performance with multi-layered aromas. The waxy notes merge with a citric precisionwhich is rounded off with ripe stone fruit. Verbena and catnip lend an herbal complexity, while subtle hints of lemoncurd biscuit and delicate toffee complete the aromatic depth.
Palate
The true greatness of this terroir is revealed on the palate. The wine shows a remarkable balance between juicy stone fruit fullness and a precise, almost crystalline acidity structure. The initial opulence gives way to an increasing citrus intensity, which lends the wine tension and length. The finish is characterised by a fine salinity, accompanied by a hint of caramel, tobacco nuances and a delicate tannic structure, which is typical of the best wines from this appellation. The 13.5% alcohol is perfectly integrated.
General information
This Pouilly-Vinzelles comes from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the appellation, cultivated by the Bret brothers using biodynamic methods. The 48-80 year old vines are rooted in ferruginous clay and limestone soil, which gives the wine its characteristic minerality. The traditional ageing for 17 months in barrels and vats with complete malolactic fermentation emphasises the artisanal excellence of this producer.
Food pairing suggestions
The versatility of this wine can be seen in its harmony with seafood such as Ceviche of monkfish cheeksaccompanied by a leche de tigre with yuzu notes. Equally impressive is the combination with Fennel risotto and red mullet fillets or a light Fennel salad with oranges and burrata. The acid structure and mineral component make it the ideal companion for creamy dishes with citrus accents.
Special features
The 2022 vintage shows its best side here - with a perfect balance between ripeness and freshness.
