Wine description for Riesling Lenchen Spätlese VDP. Grosse Lage 2022 from Peter Jakob Kühn

Colour & appearance

Bright light gold with greenish reflections in the glass. Crystal clear and remarkably brilliant - a wine that already reveals its precise origin visually.

Nose

A fascinating fragrance composition that immediately reveals the classic Rheingau elegance. Ripe white peaches and juicy apricots dominate, underpinned by fine citrus notes and a hint of honeydew melon. Underneath, the characteristic minerality of the Lenchen terroir shines through - stony, almost salty, with hints of wet slate. The biodynamic cultivation is evident in the exceptional clarity and depth of the flavours.

Palate

At a moderate 8% alcohol, this Riesling unfolds an impressive complexity. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by a vibrant acidity that gives the wine structure and tension. Juicy stone fruit flavours meld with honey notes and a fine herbal spiciness. The medium body carries the fruit effortlessly, while the mineral texture gives the wine grip and length. The finish is lingering, fresh and characterised by a salty minerality that invites you to take another sip.
