Colour & Appearance

Nose

A captivating aromatic interplay unfolds: vineyard peach and candied lime meet exotic passion fruit, complemented by notes of crystallised ginger and blossom honey. The nose conveys a floating lightness that immediately invites tasting – an aromatic profile of remarkable complexity and elegance.

Palate

On the palate, the true class of this Auslese reveals itself: the opulent fruit of the nose is perfectly balanced by a brilliant, multifaceted acidity. Despite the sweetness, the wine appears astonishingly dancing and light-footed at just 7.5% alcohol. The texture is silky, the structure impressively precise – here one senses the botrytis quality and the mineral backbone of the vineyard site.

Terroir & Origin

The Lenchen vineyard site in the Rheingau owes its name to the slope of the Pfingstbach stream. The soil of clayey loess with iron-rich red quartzite veins – historically called “Eiserberg” – lends the wine its mineral tension. The early morning mists of the Pfingstbach favour the development of noble rot Botrytis Cinerea, the foundation for this exceptional Auslese.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Riesling, spontaneously fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks. Peter Jakob Kühn relies on biodynamic viticulture and minimal intervention, which enables the precise fruit expression and terroir character.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Excellent with lime mousse on orange-lemongrass sauce, quark soufflé with rhubarb and ginger or tartlets of Fourme d’Ambert with white chocolate and pineapple. Equally wonderful with blue cheese or simply solo as a meditative pleasure.
