Wine Description for Pedra de Guix 2014 1500ml – Terroir al Limit by Terroir al Limit
- Colour & Appearance
- A deep, luminous golden yellow, interspersed with fine copper reflections that already announce the intensity in the glass.
- Nose
- Initially aristocratically restrained. A subtle bouquet unfolds, one that evokes less fruit than dry earth, flint and a hint of ginger ale. An aroma that celebrates provenance rather than grape variety.
- Palate
- On the palate, the wine displays an uncompromising presence. It forgoes primary fruit aromas entirely and instead relies on an electrifying tension and extreme grip. The texture is characterised by the finest tannins and a pronounced salinity, which combines with cool Mediterranean herbs of the macchia. The ageing in used oak contributes a delicate, creamy dimension without loosening the firm structure.
- Terroir & Origin
- A purist expression of Priorat. The cuvée reflects the barren soils and cool high-altitude vineyards that make Dominik Huber’s style so distinctive.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A masterful blend of Grenache blanc, Macabeu and Pedro Ximénez. The oxidative ageing in used oak lends this “great white” its intellectual depth and longevity.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- Excellent with grilled octopus with lentils, roasted chicken with dates and olives or baked tomatoes with salt lemons.
- Special Features
- In the 1500ml magnum, this wine displays a particular composure and ageing potential. A wine for discoverers who value structure and minerality over upfront fruit.
