Info

The Muskateller with Attention comes from Gumpoldskirchen, the vines stand at an altitude of 250m N.N. and are based on calcareous and clayey sediments. The vines have an age of 15- 25 years and are planted at a rather low density of 5000 vines per hectare.

The year 2021 was spared from late frosts. The summer was quite unstable, but also included some hot days. There were plenty of storms, but they did not affect the vines. Autumn was described like a picture book with ideal conditions. The harvest was completed on 23 October.

The yield was 60hl per hectare. The harvest was done selectively by hand in 20kg crates. The grapes were then destemmed and processed as whole berries. The maceration took place spontaneously in oak barrels and was carried out at a maximum of 25°C for four weeks. This was followed by ageing in oak barrels for 12 months on the full lees and a further 6 months on the fine lees. Finally, in August 2022, the wine was bottled without filtration or fining, with only a small addition of 15mg SO2.

Nose

It smells wonderfully intense out of the glass. Rose and nutmeg are certainly the most prominent representatives. Closely followed by mandarin, grapefruit and a fine note of lychee. White flowers such as jasmine, almond and orchid provide a sprawling, elegant note. Absolutely feminine in its expression. Freshly ground white pepper sets a fine final chord alongside dried card herbs.

Palate

On the palate, it clearly manifests these thoughts. The fruit is intensely pronounced, but is in harmony with the other components. It expresses elegance and finesse without being demanding or demanding. The fruit now tends more towards grapefruit with a hint of tangerine. It is tautly positioned and lives from a formative acid structure. The floral and spicy accents come to the fore in well-dosed tranches.
