Wine Description for Gluegglich Rot by Loimer

Colour & Appearance
Dense purple with violet reflections and a natural, slight cloudiness – an unadorned, unfiltered wine that makes no attempt to hide its authenticity.
Nose
Impressively dense and dark fruit presentation: morello cherry and sweet cherry flow seamlessly into blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry and plum. The aromatics are crisp-fresh and extraordinarily well-balanced. Subtle herbal notes of sage, mint and oregano add delicate accents without dominating the expressive fruit.
Palate
On the palate, pure drinking pleasure unfolds: juicy, crisp, with light astringency – like biting into a handful of fresh, cold berries. No intrusive tannins, barely any bitterness. The fruit elegantly shifts to redcurrants and sour cherries. At a moderate 11.5% alcohol, the drinking flow takes centre stage – invigorating, lively, happiness-inducing.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A homage to traditional Austrian winemaking: deeply rooted indigenous grape varieties from different vintages, spontaneously fermented, partly as whole bunches, patiently aged in wood. Unadorned and unfiltered – Loimer demonstrates courage in embracing naturalness and craftsmanship.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The fresh acidity and lively fruit harmonise beautifully with cured venison ham and mustard dressing, beef goulash with spätzle or a modern beetroot carpaccio with pumpkin seeds and radicchio. A versatile companion for both rustic and refined cuisine.
Special Features
The name says it all: „Gluegglich Rot“ precisely describes the feeling this wine conveys. An uncomplicated, yet by no means simple wine that proves light red wines with character and depth have a future. Perfect for those who value authenticity and drinking pleasure over alcohol content and extract-heavy blockbusters.
