Info about the wine:
Morgon has one of the best granite terroirs in Beaujolais and the old Gamay clones that grow on the Charmes plateau produce lovely, fruity, firm-skinned berries. The 40-55 year old vines show what is possible in Beaujolais-.
Color:
Muted violet-red with minimal lightening towards the rim.
Nose:
Clear and earthy with cool fruit, the 2017 Morgon shows on the nose. Dark cherries, black currants, blueberries, pepper, leather and fine dark chocolate combine with forest leaves and tree bark. A cool and fresh juniper note gives it a stimulating touch.
Palate:
Sweet berry fruit combines with fresh acidity and fine-grained stimulating tannin. A not filling tasty treat with a fine mineral vein. An honest and unaffected wine, which one ideally combines with an equally honest and down-to-earth cuisine.
