Wine information
This organically certified red wine is made from pure Tempranillo grapes. The vineyards are located in the Basque Rioja at an altitude of almost 600 metres above sea level. This altitude, which is considerable for northern Spain, ensures cooler nights and thus longer ripening phases for the grapes. Tempranillo, which actually ripens early, can preserve its acidity and fresh fruit aromas better in this cooler part of Rioja. The wine was matured for six months in oak barrels.
Color
Purple with violet edges
Nose
The red wine has a quite versatile and Tempranillo-typical nose of ripe fruits like black cherry and plum as well as hints of liquorice, tobacco and chocolate. The nose is fresh and harmonious and there is nothing overripe about the bouquet.
Palate
The ripe and present tannin, paired with the decent acidity, gives the wine a stable backbone and plenty of tension. For the Basque Rioja Alavesa, this is a relatively dark-fruited and powerful young wine that is nevertheless also juicy and drinkable and has a good balance and length. All in all, this multi-faceted growth offers very good value for money.
