About the wine
Tucked away in the picturesque village of Vallet, the Melon de Bourgogne vines, planted in 1984, deftly stretch their roots into soil that is a fusion of granite and gneiss parent rock of the Armoricain massif. This significant piece of land, deeply rooted in the history of the Luneau family winery, dominates the landscape between two villages and is crossed by a meandering river. Although officially owned by the village of Vallet, this property is perched on a hill and spans a 500-metre-wide granite belt that slopes gently down to the gneiss of the village of Le Landreau.
Colour and presentation
A radiant golden yellow streaked with light green reflections, the 2020 L d'Or Muscadet Sèvre & Maine exudes a specialness that is immediately noticeable.
Aroma
Upon entering the nose, a fresh and elegant fragrance unfolds, dominated by a symphonic melange of citrus notes, lemon zest and lemongrass. In it, the aromas of white peach and apple subtly blend with yeasty nuances and almond, while a hint of aniseed plays discreetly in the background.
Taste
On the palate, this wine proves to be refreshing and extremely multi-faceted with an impressive ageing potential thanks to its origin from granitic soils. Fruity and with a subtle spiciness, this sensual, strongly mineral wine is a distillate that represents French cuisine par excellence and unleashes the senses.
Food pairings
A spicy carrot and herb crêpe with a parsley root and bacon sauce, a finely chopped asparagus carpaccio paired with sweet honeydew melon and refreshing mint, or a sumptuous seafood platter served with freshly baked baguette are just some of the dishes that would complement this wine perfectly. Alternatively, you could consider a creamy salmon casserole with fresh dill, a grilled sole with caper butter or a spicy crab cocktail with avocado.
