Wine Description for Lou Bragalou IGP 2023 by Flo Busch

Colour & Appearance
Deep, luminous golden yellow, slightly hazy – an unfiltered testament to natural winemaking without filtration.
Nose
The nose exudes a seductive abundance of ripe apricot and honeydew melon, underpinned by discreet yeast notes and a hint of roasted aromas. With air, the wine unfolds to impressive complexity – a good sign of depth and potential.
Palate
On the palate, Lou Bragalou presents itself with creamy texture and juicy intensity. The yellow fruit notes from the bouquet continue seamlessly, complemented by a lively spice that lends the wine tension and structure.
Finish
Long, intense and characterised by an elegant saline minerality – a finish that clearly reflects the chalky subsoil of Languedoc and awakens the desire for the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The vines grow on a remarkable mosaic of limestone scree (éboulis calcaires), rounded pebbles (galets roulés) and quartz stone – soils that give Grenache Blanc its characteristic tension and minerality. Planted in the early 1990s, the vines today bear the signature of a mature, deep terroir. The namesake is the bog asphodel (Lou Bragalou), which grows wild between the vine rows – and symbolises Flo’s wife Paola’s passion for floral aromas.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Grenache Blanc, hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeasts. No fining, no filtration – winemaker Flo Busch relies on maximum transparency towards fruit and origin. A wine that hides nothing and has nothing to hide.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A wine that seeks company. Ideal with Provençal chicken with saffron and olives, grilled sea bass with Provençal herbs or a creamy porcini risotto. Also a delightful pairing with spicy North African dishes such as an aromatic lamb tagine.
Special Features
An authentic natural wine project from Languedoc that convinces with minimalist cellar techniques and maximum terroir fidelity. Lou Bragalou is not a wine for the impatient – those who give it time in the decanter will be rewarded with extraordinary complexity.
