Nose
The Le Mont demi-sec opens with a fine perfume of white flowers, lightly candied stone fruit, freshly sliced Granny Smith apple and a smoky and stony note typical of the site. Orange zest and salted lemons form in the background with a slightly iodiney and refreshingly bitter component. All this presents itself finely woven and coherent.
Palate
This feeling that everything is tightly woven in an artistic pattern is also present on the palate, where fruit, acidity, phenolic and minerality have found each other, even now, at a still youthful age. The Le Mont demi-sec appears fresh and juicy with yellow, almost opulent fruit of ripe stone fruit and pome fruit. Of course, the aromas of pears and quinces dominate here as well, as if they were picked at exactly the right time at the border of crispness to juiciness. The fruit is joined by slightly phenolic, smoky and spicy notes reminiscent of tobacco, as well as the aforementioned salt and the subtly bitter and tart components of ginger and kumquats. This is great stuff.
