Wine Description for Brut Nature Premier Cru L2019+Réserve by Lacourte-Godbillon

Colour & Appearance
A pale, luminous golden yellow in the glass, threaded through with an exceptionally lively and delicate, precise mousse.
Nose
On the nose, this Premier Cru reveals itself as pleasantly intellectual and wonderfully purist. A distinctive chalky minerality dominates the bouquet, elegantly flanked by subtle nuances of citrus fruits and crisp, firm pear. With more air, fascinating, deeply saline notes emerge – an aroma that recalls iodine-tinged sea breezes and freshly opened oyster shells.
Palate
On the palate, the wine presents itself uncompromisingly taut, focused and bone-dry (0g residual sugar). The ripe acidity of the 2019 base gives it enormous drive. Without any dosage to mask it, the chalky terroir emerges crystal clear. The texture is wiry, almost athletic, and finishes in a vibrant, saline finale.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the Premier Cru vineyard sites of the communes of Écueil and Les Mesneux in the Petite Montagne de Reims. The vines stand here on barren, pure limestone soils, which give the wines their characteristic, chalky freshness and mineral tension.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A perfectly balanced cuvée of 54% Pinot Noir and 46% Chardonnay, based on the 2019 vintage and refined with valuable reserve wines. Géraldine and Richard Lacourte work according to strict Demeter guidelines. After spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts and cellar ageing, the Champagne was bottled in July 2020 and disgorged on 30 March 2024 as a bone-dry Brut Nature.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This characterful Champagne demands purist cuisine. It is an ideal partner for fresh oysters, sashimi or seafood. Its enormous structure and freshness, however, also make it the perfect accompaniment for more demanding dishes such as turbot with a saline butter sauce or fine poultry with rich creamy side dishes.
Special Features
An absolutely artisanal grower Champagne away from the mainstream. Anyone seeking the unvarnished, mineral truth of the Petite Montagne de Reims in a glass will find it here.
