Wine Description for Rosé Brut by De Sousa

Colour & Appearance
Delicate salmon pink with copper reflections. Fine, persistent perlage with elegant mousse – a visual delight that bears the hallmark of a Grand Cru Champagne.
Nose
Seductive and complex: redcurrants and strawberries meet brioche and roasted almonds. Beneath, minerallic notes of chalk and a hint of orange zest, which underscore the biodynamic provenance.
Palate
Precise and powerful in equal measure. The structure is impressively taut, underpinned by crisp acidity and a creamy texture. Wild strawberries, raspberries and blood orange meld with spicy yeast notes. The biodynamic approach reveals itself in the extraordinary clarity and depth – here you taste the terroir.
Finish
Long, saline-minerallic and refreshing. The chalky minerality of the Côte des Blancs dominates the aftertaste, accompanied by red fruits and a fine bitter almond note.
Terroir & Origin
From the legendary Grand Cru vineyard sites of Avize in the Côte des Blancs. The vines – over 45 years old – an absolute rarity in Champagne – are deeply rooted in the chalk-rich subsoil and yield grapes of extraordinary concentration and minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under biodynamic management. Gentle pressing, slow maturation of the base wines and respectful handling of the harvest. De Sousa deliberately eschews haste – the result is a rosé of remarkable authenticity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Excellent with tuna tartare, grilled salmon or sushi. Also an excellent choice with rare roast veal, duck breast or a strawberry and rhubarb dessert.
Special Features
A rosé Champagne that demonstrates what biodynamic viticulture can achieve at Grand Cru level. The combination of ancient vines, first-class terroir and uncompromising craftsmanship makes this Champagne an authentic expression of the Côte des Blancs.
