Weinbeschreibung für Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée “1859” 2020 von Trapet Père & Fils
Colour & appearance
Brilliant ruby red with violet reflections that emphasise the youthfulness of this classic Burgundy. Transparent, with an intensity typical of the 2020 vintage.
Nose
An seductive bouquet of red forest berries, cherries and raspberries, underlaid with subtle notes of damp forest soil and mushrooms. With air contact, fascinating nuances of violets, cloves and a hint of orange zest develop. The biodynamic approach of the Trapet family is reflected in the exceptional purity and precision of the flavours.
Palate
On the palate, this Gevrey-Chambertin impresses with its fine balance between youthful fruit and structural elements. The tannins are silky and fine-grained, perfectly integrated into a medium-bodied wine. The moderate acidity gives the wine freshness and length, while the fruit flavours of redcurrants and sour cherries are accompanied by a subtle minerality and a hint of spice. The finish is precise, persistent and remarkably elegant.
General information
Food pairing suggestions
Ideal for roasted squab with Morels, coq au vin or a classic Boeuf Bourguignon. Vegetarian alternatives would be Mushroom risotto with truffle oil or Roasted pumpkin with thyme. The moderate tannin structure also allows combinations with full-flavoured fish dishes such as Tuna or Salmon.
Special features
