Tasting note

Wine information

The Champagne is a 100 %iger Pinot Noir from the 2015 vintage. The vineyards of Champagne Louise Brison are located at around 320 metres above sea level and are characterised by Kimmeridge limestone and marl with a layer of clay - similar to neighbouring Chablis. The base wine was obtained using the saignée method and fermented in barriques, the blend was brought together in stainless steel and drawn into the bottle in June 2016. The wine was disgorged with zero grams of dosage in November 2022.

Nose

The 2015 Rosé de la Côte des Bar is a colourful and aromatic champagne with notes of grapefruit, redcurrants, cranberries and pomegranate. In addition, there are barberries, some ginger, lime and blood orange zest. The whole is rounded off with a hint of patisserie.

Palate

On the palate the 2015 Rosé de la Côte des Bar similarly intense - no wonder, as a Saignée champagne it is not a flatterer but a food companion. And so the aromas of citrus and red berries meet a good portion of tannin, a fine perlage and an acidity with a lot of pull. The Kimmerdige limestone provides a lot of tension and energy as well as a concise salinity in the finish, which in turn is responsible for a high drinking flow. The wine has a lot of power, assertiveness and also has a pleasant elegance.

Food pairing suggestions

  • Venison, celeriac, autumn trumpets and miso (game)
  • Chicken thighs marinated in blood orange with savoury semolina (poultry)
  • Raspberry, lime and grapefruit macarons (dessert)
