Color
Dark ruby garnet, almost opaque.
Nose
The generous nose of the 2016 Dits del Terra from Terroir al Limit is darkly fruity and earthy. The solid score of black berry fruits like blackberries and mulberries is complemented by syncopations of dried plums. In the overtone area, floral notes of hibiscus and hollyhocks sound like filigree strings, while bitter chocolate, juniper and dark tobacco provide solid bass and decent thrust.
Mouth
The Carignan from 70-80 year old vines also drives on the palate with decent bass. Its full-bodied structure is tamed by the fine acid arc, the fruit floats like a hoovercraft over the profound minerality of the Licorella soils of the Priorat. The tannins are polished fine as silk and dress the Carignan in the finest twine. It combines power and finesse and flows with rich fruit into the mineral finish with ethereal reverberation.
