Color
Bright garnet red with distinct brick red lightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2013 presents itself freshly opened like a carpet of dark earth and truffle, accompanied by tart fruit reminiscent of sloe and rowan berry, the whole dusted with cinnamon, cardamom and clove. Fine scents of peony underline its feminine and fragrant character.
Palate
On the palate, the 2013 conveys clear minerality, its youthful acidity determines the first impression on the tongue. This has an authentic effect and demands patience; there is no quaffable and softly rinsed drop in the glass here that can be drunk away so easily. After a longer opening, not tart but refreshingly fruity notes play with the tongue. Even though it is still far too young, I am sitting at my desk at almost 30°C and this fresh and complex wine immediately makes me think of aromatic and rich cuisine.
Recommendation
