Color
Muted garnet red with delicate coppery lightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2014 Corton-Clos-Du-Roi envelops you with earthy aromas of noble tobacco, lots of truffle, walnut and flint. It needs enough oxygen to reveal its fruit, which brings to mind plum, red apple, dried fig and wild raspberry. Delicate green notes of rosemary, eucalyptus and wild mint give it something delightful and inspiring. All in all, there is a fine velvet carpet in the glass that already envelops you in the nose.
Palate
If you take the 2014 Corton-Clos-Du-Roi on the tongue, it reveals itself with the finest structure and densely woven fruit. The tannin and acid structure is beautifully integrated but still has great development potential for decades. A rough diamond that just starts to sparkle and will only shine in a few years.
Recommendation
If you want to open it in its youthful stage, you would be well advised to decant it 2-3 hours in advance and enjoy it from a large Burgundy glass.
