Nose
Salicutti's Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is again a fascinating experience with the 2013 vintage. The Riserva is extremely elegant, although at the same time it possesses enormous strength. It is a ying and yang that runs through the entire Brunello pulls. One finds in the smell both ripened forest berries and cherries also dry herbs and blond tobacco. There are cool stony components and those of warm forest earth. In the fragrance the wine reminds of dried wood and at the same time of the fine sweetness of fruit and liquorice.
Palate
On the palate the 2013 Riserva impressively juicy. A lot of cherry and forest fruit, some plum and red currant come together. At the same time, the wine has a good amount of tannins. These present themselves ripe and completely integrated into the harmonious overall picture, appear as if polished and create an elegant texture. Not to forget the brilliant acid structure of the wine, which integrates itself just as perfectly as the tannin. But what is most impressive is that this wine, which definitely has warm notes, shows no heat whatsoever. It is a fantastic Brunello with a great future.
