Wine Description for Coteaux Bourguignons Gamay Fin AOP 2022 1500ml Magnum by Boris Champy

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, clear ruby red with violet reflections that underscore the youthfulness of this Gamay. In magnum format, the wine presents itself with particular brilliance and depth.
Nose
Expressive bouquet of fresh red cherries and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes of violet and peony. Subtle hints of granite stone and fine herbal spice lend the wine complexity and Burgundian finesse.
Palate
Silky yet vibrant, this Gamay reveals itself on the palate. The crisp acidity carries juicy aromas of blackcurrants and cranberries, whilst a fine-grained texture provides structure. At 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains elegant and inviting to drink, without losing substance. The biodynamic viticulture shows itself in the pure fruit expression and mineral precision.
Finish
Medium-length and refreshing with lively fruitiness and a hint of white pepper. The fine minerality resonates harmoniously in the aftertaste.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes hail from the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, a region that Boris Champy regards as the future of Burgundy in the face of climate change. The higher-altitude sites offer cooler temperatures and preserve the characteristic freshness and elegance of Gamay.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Gamay from Didier Montchovets legendary domaine, founded in 1984 – the first Demeter-certified winery in Burgundy. Boris Champy, renowned for his masterful work at Dominus and Clos de Lambrays, champions biodynamic viticulture with high biodiversity. The wine is aged with restrained use of oak to preserve fruit clarity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect companion to Coq au Vin, duck breast with cherries, ratatouille or goat’s cheese. Also an excellent choice with charcuterie and mushroom dishes.
Special Features
Bottled in magnum format (1500ml), this Gamay develops with particular harmony. A rarity from biodynamic viticulture by one of Burgundy’s most experienced winemakers.
