Info about the wine

100 % Viognier harvested at 550 meters. The soil is characterized by shell limestone, clay and lime and is very stony.

Info about the expansion

Direct pressing was followed by five days of cold maceration. Fermentation took place for seven months in 228-litre French barriques. During fermentation, the yeasts were stirred regularly to add complexity to the wine.

Bright golden yellow with delicate green reflections.

Chêne Bleu's 2019 Viognier is an aromatic wine with powerful appeal that demands to be decanted due to its youthfulness. With oxygen, it initially shows creamy and vanilla notes as well as a hint of light tobacco. Later, papaya, apricot, ginger freshness and orange blossom join in. What a fragrant and noble white wine that gives you the feeling of standing in front of the blossoming orange trees at Chêne Bleu or in the middle of a lavender field.

A beautiful balance between exoticism, fine wood spice and creamy impression, paired with freshness. The long salty finish beguiles the palate and calls creative cooks on the plan who can let off steam wonderfully with this wine. Simply superb!

Decant if possible and enjoy not too cold from a large Burgundy glass.

Food recommendations by Christina Hilker

  • Mini artichokes seasoned with ginger and aniseed, served with apricots
  • Tomato with miso, coriander oil and lobster
  • Wild caught tuna with yuzu and seaweed vegetables
