Wine information
The Pinot Noir comes from five plots totalling two hectares in Volnay on the lower and upper parts of the slope. The average age of the vines is 34 years. They are deep soils with a clay layer on a limestone base. Fermentation took place in open vats, ageing over 18 months in barrels. The proportion of new wood was 25 %.
Color
medium garnet red, slightly transparent
Nose
The Volnay Village 2018 is composed of a ripe red as well as dark, slightly sweet and ripe berry fruit with some cherries, yeast and discreet undergrowth as well as some dry earth.
Palate
On the palate, this is a silky fine Volnay with a flattering, slightly chalky tannin that is at the same time quite present and structuring. The fruit is dark, and it is carried by a ripe yet lively acidity as well as a decent portion of extract. This is an elegant, almost penetrating Pinot Noir with excellent length and stature, with power without seeming heavy.
